More than 900 representatives from industry and research are discussing the development of and implementation strategies for the industrial Internet of Things at the 2nd Industry of Things World Conference held in Berlin from September 19th to 20th.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Detlef Zühlke, CEO of the Technologie-Initiative SmartFactory KL e.V. und Director Innovative Factory Systems at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) talked about transferring Industrie 4.0 into the real world in his speech „Industrie 4.o – from vision to work“. He called for stronger implementation of Industrie 4.0 ideas, in ordert o turn the buzz word into reality. This includes the continuous development of automation technology, highly modular production lines and standardized interfaces.
In his opening keynote, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang Wahlster, Director and CEO of the DFKI spoke on the topic „Beyond 4.0“. He presented his vision on the future of Industrie 4.0, the role of autonomous systems and the impact of semantic technologies on businesses.
