Digitalization will fundamentally change the world-wide economy. Topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics and big data are just a few of the drivers which will lead to a paradigm shift in the industrial environment. To learn more about the topics, the German weekly economic magazine „WirtschaftsWoche“ visited the drivers of the fourth industrial revolution with a delegation of 20 top-class managers in the south-west of Germany. This lead the group to the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as well as SmartFactoryKL.
Prof. Dr. Martin Ruskowski, Director of the Research Department Innovative Factory Systems at DFKI, presented the research activities of this department and gave a tour of SmartFactoryKL. One main topic of the discussion was the work environment in the factory of the future. Prof. Dr. Miriam Meckel, publisher of WirtschaftsWoche magazine, was especially interested in the effect of artificial intelligence on the demands which must be fulfilled by the worker of the future.
