The Technology Initiative SmartFactory KL e.V. is strengthened in the fields of telecommunication and information technology by the decision of Deutsche Telekom to become the newest member of the consortium.
“We are very glad that Deutsche Telekom, one of the world’s leading providers of telecommunications, has joined our technology initiative. Many of the advances in the world of Industrie 4.0 demand new means of communication, such as the use of 5G technology that we are currently introducing to the SmartFactoryKL. Deutsche Telekom can provide optimal support to this effort,” said Prof. Dr. Detlef Zühlke, Chairman of the Board of SmartFactoryKL.
“Deutsche Telekom is pleased to become the latest member to offer support the impressive concept behind SmartFactory in Kaiserslautern – the integration of science and practice is very convincing. As a member we want to listen and, as an industry partner, to contribute guidance and resources. Our focus is on the economic benefits for the customer when it comes to using ICT systems like managed cloud services, 5G, data analytics, and IT security. We are looking forward to many inspiring discussions with the other members and partners as well as to some innovative projects with SMEs and the strong, family-run businesses in Germany. Working together with all the other members, we want to contribute to the future viability of our country by aiding in the effort to achieve a successful digital transformation of our industrial base,” said Thomas Schiemann, Cluster-Head “Telekom Cloud for Industry”/Business Development Industrie 4.0 at Deutsche Telekom.
