The network of partners within SmartFactoryKL has now been extended to Belgium, thanks to its latest member Flanders Make.“We joined SmartFactoryKL as it gives a good view of the opportunities that Industry 4.0 offers to companies in the manufacturing industry and beyond. We become part of an ecosystem that fits within our strategic agenda and will allow us to build up an international network with interesting insights in future technology development”, said Dr. Dirk Torfs, CEO of Flanders Make.
Prof. Dr. Detlef Zühlke, Chairman of the Board of SmartFactoryKL, commented: “We are very happy that Flanders Make has joined our initiative and welcome our friends from Belgium. Their approach is similar to ours and therefore they fit perfectly to our initiative. Our network is growing to comprise more and more international players, both from industry and research. We see this as a confirmation that we have the right strategy and concept to allow Industrie 4.0 to succeed on a world-wide level.”
Flanders Make is a strategic research centre for the manufacturing industry. Operating from sites in Lommel and Leuven (Belgium) and from research facilities at the Flemish universities, the center stimulates open innovation through excellent research, starting from basic pre-competitive research and building the bridge towards industrial research and development. Flanders Make brings together companies and research institutions and aims to contribute to the realisation of concrete product and production innovations in the vehicle and mechanical engineering industry and in production environments.
