The Chinese company Haier is expanding its cooperation with SmartFactoryKL and announced the opening of a research office in Kaiserslautern in a ceremony at Hannover Messe.
Prof. Dr. Detlef Zühlke, Chairman of the Board of SmartFactoryKL, and Chen Lucheng, Vice President Haier Home Appliance Industry Group, unveiled a name plate at Hannover Messe to celebrate the opening of a Haier research office in Kaiserslautern. At least two employees will soon begin their work in the research office, supported by students from Kaiserslautern Technical University, Zühlke said to the regional newspaper DIE RHEINPFALZ.
Haier is aiming to expand its research activities in Germany within the initiative COSMOPlat. It got to know the academic city of Kaiserslautern – thanks to the support of the government of Rhineland-Palatinate – as a promising location. The Haier delegation also visited the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and John Deere’s Research Center ETIC in Kaiserslautern. Afterwards, the delegation was greeted by Rhineland-Palatinate’s Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Volker Wissing in Mainz.
