The Chinese-based global player in the household appliance sector Haier is the latest member of SmartFactoryKL. Chen Lucheng, Vice President Haier Home Appliance Industry Group, and Prof. Dr. Detlef Zuehlke, Executive Chairman of SmartFactoryKL, proclaimed the membership at a celebration in Qingdao, China, yesterday.

“Haier is happy to become a member of SmartFactory Kaiserslautern as the first Chinese company from the traditional manufacturing sector”, said Chen. Zuehlke added: “We welcome Haier as a great example for Chinese innovation! We are happy to extend our network and to include more international players. Industrie 4.0 has become a hot global topic which can only be developed effectively if join our strengths.”

This collaboration was facilitated by the Ministry of Economics of the Bundesland Rhineland-Palatinate. Dr. Zou Bing from the representative office of the Department for External Economy in Beijing, China, played a leading role in this activity.
