At the event “ZIRP at 8”, Rhineland-Palatinate’s Prime Minister Malu Dreyer praised the SME 4.0 Competence Center at SmartFactoryKL as one of the highlight projects to implement Industrie 4.0 ideas. How digitization will change enterprises, this was the focus topic at the event „ZIRP at 8“ in Mainz on December 7, 2106.

With their joint booth at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg (Germany), Europe’s leading expert trade fair for electric automation, the Technology Initiative SmartFactory KL e.V. and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) present a spectrum of their competences in the domain of Industrie 4.0 (hall 10, stand 540) from November 22 to 24, 2016. The exhibited demonstrators show how the transfer of the Industrie 4.0 paradgim into industrial applications can succeed.
Kick-off of the EU project HyproCell
November 22, 2016 marked the kick-off of the EU-funded project HyproCell (Hybrid Production Cells), which SmartFactoryKL and several members are participating in – along with many other international companies and research institutes.
National IT-Summit in Saarbrücken: Commitment to Digital Education
„Learning and acting in the digital world” – this was the motto of the German national IT Summit in Saarbrücken on November 17, 2016, where representatives from politics, industry and academia discussed the opportunities and challenges of digital education. “Learning and acting in the digital world shape our daily life”, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in her keynote. That is why digial education must be accessible to everyone. She called upon teachers and students alike to encounter new developments with an open and curious mind.
Industrie 4.0 conference in Seoul
The conference “4th Industry Revolution” which took place in Seoul (Korea), from November 1-2, 2016, focused on “Changes of technology, industry and social trends with intelligence information, smart life and smart manufacture”. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Detlef Zuehlke, CEO of Technologie-Initiative SmartFactory KL e.V., held a keynote speech on “Industry 4.0: the next industrial revolution?”

Roundtable on Digitising Europe with Commissioner Oettinger and Prof. Zühlke
The European Commission hosted a roundtable chaired by EU-Commissioner Günther H. Oettinger on September 20, 2016 in Brussels. Representatives from politics and industry from all EU countries came together to discuss the European Platform of National Initiatives founded by the Commissioner. “Europe has to join forces and start investing in Digital Innovation Hubs,“ he wrote on Twitter.

Prof. Dr. Detlef Zühlke – Ernennung zum Wissenstransferbotschafter des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz und zum Beirat der österreichischen FTI-Initiative
Die rheinland-pfälzische Ministerpräsidentin Malu Dreyer ernannte Prof. Zühlke nun zum „Transferbotschafter für den Potenzialbereich Produktionstechnik, Automation – Schwerpunkt Industrie 4.0“. Vorgeschlagen wurde dies durch Wissenschaftsministerin Vera Reiß und Wirtschaftsministerin Eveline Lemke, vor dem Hintergrund der Transferinitiative des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz, mit der die Zusammenarbeit von Hochschulen und Unternehmen in Bereichen mit besonderem Innovationspotenzial im Land gestärkt werden soll.
