The SmartFactoryKL Technology Initiative donated a total of 2,375 euros to the children’s aid organization “Mama/Papa hat Krebs” Kaiserslautern (www.mama-papa-hat-krebs.de). Official ceremonies in early September marked 26 years in the service of science, for Prof. Dr. Detlef Zühlke as he transferred his responsibilities to his successor Prof. Dr. Martin Ruskowski. At that time, he also asked well-wishers to give, in lieu of gifts, a donation for the children’s aid organization.
At today’s presentation ceremony, Zühlke expressed his appreciation to all the action’s supporters: “This donation represents a heartfelt cause for us. We are pleased that SmartFactoryKL could use these proceeds to help the children who must experience difficulties as a result of the illness of their parents or siblings,” said Zühlke. Prof. Dr. Dr. Hartmut Link, president of the “Mama/Papa hat Krebs” charity added: “We sincerely appreciate this donation. This check will be used to support our work with children and youths whose lives have been dramatically changed by the diagnosis of cancer in a parent or sibling.”
Dr. Detlef Zühlke retired this year from his positions as Chair of the Production Automation Department at TU Kaiserslautern and as Head of the Innovative Factory Systems research department at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). His successor in both positions as of June 1, 2017 is Dr. Ruskowski. The official ceremony took place in Kaiserslautern with nearly 150 invited guests and colleagues from the government, research, and business communities. Malu Dreyer, Minister President of the state of Rhineland Palatinate, included praise for Dr. Zühlke’s engagement in here welcome remarks.
