Start / Working groups
The full member partners cooperate on various topics in several working groups at SmartFactoryKL. Developments, trends, visions, and ideas that are defined by the members themselves, are further developed and conceptually designed to enable, in the next step, their implementation and integration in the demonstrator.

Three working groups are currently active:

(Click to unfold)

Chair: Arnold Herget
T: 0631/20575-5634

Vision:

Design and use of cyber-physical production modules for the sustainable factory environment of the future.

Focus characteristics of autonomous production:

  • Self-explanatory qualities
  • Fault tolerance and resilience
  • Resource adaptation
  • Cooperativeness

Long-Term Goals

  • The use of tools to specify and develop networked means of production
  • The specification of robust production components and interfaces
  • Functional self-description (digital administrative shell)
  • Autonomous process-oriented configuration & commissioning

Short-Term Goals

  • Concepts & strategies for the specification and implementation of modular production resources (modules: production, transport, buffer systems, infrastructure)
  • Concepts & strategies for the specification and implementation of interfaces for interoperability at the physical, IT systems & operator levels

Chair: Alexander David
T: 0631/20575-1078

Vision:

Build a manufacturer-independent platform for autonomous production process control

Focus characteristics of autonomous production:

  • Self-explanatory qualities
  • Cooperativeness
  • Resource adaptation
  • Decision-making qualities

Long-Term Goals

  • A manufacturer-independent and robust information architecture and middleware
  • Information and capability models in the administrative shell
  • Autonomous and flexible production process control through the use of matching approaches
  • Negotiating strategies for optimal and sustainable use of resources

Short-Term Goals

  • An interface to the product configurator and to draw from the product administrative shells
  • An interoperable middleware for data collection and storage
  • The implementation of capability models for product and process administrative shells
  • Autonomous capability matching of products and machines for flexible process controls
  • Visualization of module status and decision-making processes within production operation

Chair: Jens Popper
T: 0631/20575-3421

Vision:

Build a cognitive factory that makes dynamic decisions to improve production

Focus characteristics of autonomous production:

  • Decision-making qualities
  • SSelf-learning qualities
  • Fault tolerance and resilience

Long-Term Goals

  • Operator assistance through automated preparation of data and recommended actions based on the data
  • Optimize and control production processes through agent systems (trained in simulations)
  • Early detection of errors and faults through modern sensor systems
  • Minimize and optimize retrofitting through automatic parameterization
  • Connections to Cloud, Edge, and OT
…based on machine learning methods

Short-Term Goals

  • Integrate sensors in production modules / transport systems
  • Provide dashboard data analyses
  • Integrate operator assistance in commissioning and maintenance of the modules
  • Develop a (material flow) simulation for the demonstrator

Membership

The technology initiative is supported through the active contributions of its members and the financial support of sponsors. The members and sponsors create a lively partnership as together we realize the visions of future production.

If you are a supplier of Industrie 4.0 components or software; or, you want to use and implement the concepts of Industrie 4.0; or perhaps, you have other interests in becoming a member, then you too are cordially invited to become a part of our network.
